Position: Junior / Intermediate Project Manager (Energy & Heavy Industrial)
Stantec is an international design and consulting firm focused on sustainable infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development Support

Communicates effectively with clients to identify needs, evaluates alternative solutions, and delivers value added services.

Coordinates with business development leaders and designers to write proposals (scoping, scheduling, and pricing).

Understands project business structure and risks.

Project Management/Coordination

Create and execute project execution plans, including work plans (work breakdown structure), resource plans, risk management plans, etc.

Manage day‑to‑day operational aspects of a project and scope.

Assume responsibilities (in partnership with the assigned principal) for technical and design excellence.

Ensures project documents, including contracts and additional service requests, are approved and filed in accordance with Stantec processes and procedures.

Project Accounting

Update project financials on a regular basis (weekly, bi‑weekly, monthly) using Stantec’s proprietary tools.

Manage project budget and schedule including tracking, forecasting, and reporting of team hours and expenses.

Monitor project performance indicators (KPIs).

Ensure timely and accurate invoicing and monitor receivables and collection of invoices.

Communications

Facilitates and holds regular team and client meetings.

Keeps project team well informed of changes and updates.

Report project status to the client and internal leadership on a regular basis.

Take meeting minutes.

Resolve and/or escalate issues in a timely fashion.

Facilitate the communication of difficult/sensitive information.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

Project management experience.

Business development experience.

Proficient English writing and communication skills.

Experience with MS Office, MS Project software; would be an asset.

Ability to multitask.

Willing and able to travel occasionally.

Excellent client relationship and communication skills.

Team player with experience building, leading, and managing a project team.

Technical experience in heavy industrial process market disciplines (Pulp, paper, packaging, tissue, building products, food and beverage, mineral processing, oil & gas, thermal generation, and renewable energy).

Bachelor’s degree in engineering/technical or related discipline.

PMP Certification.

Excellent interpersonal skills, with strong written and verbal communication abilities to effectively engage with clients, project teams, regulators, and other stakeholders.

Minimum 4 years of related experience.

Experience managing at least five consulting projects with minimum consulting fees of $100K.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for extended periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Education and Experience

Minimum 2 years of related experience.

Pay Range

Locations Outside of Lower Mainland - BC & Various locations in Ontario: $74,400.00 - $ Annually

In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. The final compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. Certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part‑time roles will be pro‑rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
