Responsibilities Managing and delivering structural engineering projects associated with hydroelectric facilities, fisheries infrastructure, and water resource developments.
Performing analysis and design of concrete and steel structures in and around water environments.
Serving as a technical lead and/or project manager, overseeing project scope, schedules, budgets, deliverables, and client communications.
Coordinating with hydrology, hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, geotechnical, and environmental professionals to develop integrated engineering solutions.
Preparing and reviewing technical designs, calculations, specifications, reports, and construction documents.
Providing field support, including site investigations, condition assessments, construction oversight, and coordination with contractors and clients.
Mentoring junior engineers, designers, and technical staff while fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.
Building and maintaining long‑term client relationships and contributing to business development initiatives, proposal preparation, and pursuit activities.
Supporting projects throughout their full lifecycle, from planning and design through construction and commissioning.
Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree (BS, BSc, or BEng) in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Structural Engineering.
Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.).
Minimum of 10 years of structural engineering experience.
Strong knowledge of structural engineering standards, codes, and industry best practices.
Experience designing concrete and steel structures, particularly for infrastructure projects in water‑related environments.
Proficiency with structural analysis and design software such as MathCAD, RISA‑3D, SAP
2000, AutoCAD, and Revit.
Experience working directly with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams during planning, design, and construction phases.
Excellent problem‑solving, project management, written communication, and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with hydroelectric generation facilities, dams, spillways, fish passage facilities, or other water resource infrastructure projects.
Specialty expertise in structural engineering disciplines such as seismic design, finite element modeling, or advanced structural analysis.
Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams and managing multiple projects concurrently.
Familiarity with regulatory and permitting processes in Canada and/or the United States.
Demonstrated passion for mentoring junior staff and supporting professional development.
Additional Requirements Must possess permanent authorization to work in Canada and be able to acquire authorization to work in the United States.
Must be willing to travel within Canada and possess a valid driver’s license.
Must be willing to travel to the United States for business purposes.
Preference will be given to candidates located in Nova Scotia or Ontario; however, candidates from other provinces will be considered.
Salary The expected base salary for this senior‑level role is $125,000 - $172,000 CAD.
