As a communications intern with Natural Resources, you will have the opportunity to gain meaningful and varied experiences. You will gain experience developing content for and using a variety of platforms to engage with Nova Scotians about government priorities and actions.

About Our Opportunity

As a communications intern, you will work with other communications professionals to provide communications support services including content development for various platforms, including but not limited to, news releases, social media, fact sheets, backgrounders, messages, and speeches. In addition, you will provide support for social media account planning and management, and event planning.

You will also gain experience in project management, government procurement, and assist in the field of public opinion research as it relates to marketing and communications. This may include some analysis of research results, helping to develop reports, and responding to internal inquiries.

Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate will have the following mandatory qualifications:

  • Completion of a post-secondary degree, diploma or graduate certificate in public relations, communications, or marketing within the last three years.
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Experience with social media strategies and communications plans
  • Experience in creating content for various digital and social channels
  • Experience proactively working with, and considering the perspectives of, a diverse range of stakeholders, including a grasp of Nova Scotia’s unique social, historical and demographic make-up.

Previous government experience and French language skills would be considered assets.

Additional Information

This is an internship employment opportunity with anticipated end date of June 30, 2028. The appointment status (‘term’, ‘temporary’ or ‘casual’) is dependent on the start date of the successful candidate.

Pay Grade: PR 06

Salary Range: $2,200.68 - $2,288.52 Bi-Weekly
