We are Canada’s Trusted Public Affairs Advisors.

Wellington Advocacy is a national, full-service public affairs firm driven by unique experiences advising Prime Ministers, Provincial Premiers, Cabinet Ministers, and corporate executives. We equip business leaders and global brands with the insights and strategies needed to shape government policy and public opinion.

Our advisors uphold the values of those entrusted to serve leaders in Canada’s highest government and corporate offices.

We believe in fostering a culture committed to integrity, leadership, excellence, and collaboration.

About the role

As Canada’s Trusted Public Affairs Advisors, Wellington builds partnerships that drive impact while shaping government policy and public opinion.

Our Fall 2026 Internship Program (September-December) offers post-secondary students and recent graduates the opportunity to gain meaningful, hands-on experience while working alongside experienced advisors and some of Canada’s leading political and public service professionals.

We are currently recruiting interns across three areas of our business:

  • Government Relations – supporting client work related to government relations, public policy, political monitoring, stakeholder engagement, strategic communications, and client advisory services.
  • Business Operations – supporting internal operations, business administration, project coordination, executive support, process improvement, and organizational excellence.
  • Marketing – supporting marketing initiatives, brand development, digital communications, content creation, event promotion, business development, and client engagement.

Regardless of your area of interest, you will contribute to meaningful projects, collaborate with experienced professionals, and develop practical skills through hands‑on work that supports both our clients and our firm.

This is a full‑time, hybrid (location dependant) internship designed for individuals interested in building a strong foundation for a career in public affairs, communications, operations, or marketing.

Why Wellington?

As a Wellington intern you gain more than work experience. You’re a part of a collaborative team of senior public affairs leaders shaping public policy and business across Canada. Throughout the internship, you will:

  • Gain hands‑on industry experience working alongside public affairs advisors with experience serving Prime Ministers, Premiers, senior Cabinet Ministers and corporate executives.
  • Assist with client events, conferences, stakeholder meetings, and public affairs initiatives from planning through execution.
  • Develop practical research, writing, policy analysis, project management, and communications skills through meaningful work.
  • Build confidence preparing briefing notes, presentations, reports, marketing materials, and strategic recommendations.
  • Strengthen your analytical and organizational skills by working with stakeholder data, research, and project tracking tools.
  • Expand your professional network while learning from industry leaders through mentorship and collaboration.
  • Develop a deeper understanding of Canada’s political, parliamentary, government, and business environments.

Our goal is to provide all interns with meaningful experience, lasting professional relationships, and a deeper understanding of how public affairs helps organizations achieve their objectives.

Responsibilities

Depending on your area of focus, you will:

  • Support Wellington teams with day‑to‑day client service, internal initiatives, and project delivery.
  • Assist in preparing client presentations, briefing notes, strategic plans, reports, proposals, marketing materials, and other communications.
  • Conduct research on government policy, legislation, regulatory developments, political issues, industry trends, and market insights.
  • Monitor and summarize political, parliamentary, legislative, and government activities at the federal and provincial levels.
  • Support the planning and execution of client events, stakeholder meetings, conferences, marketing campaigns, and public affairs initiatives.
