About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Dalhousie School of Health Sciences' Director, this multi-faceted role encompasses curriculum/program development, implementation and evaluation. Program design, research, development, teaching, evaluation, advisory and disciplinary action as well as continuous quality improvement are mandated for both academic and clinical programming. Continuous professional development with clinical focus, academic advances and theory are critical to the role of an Educator. The responsibilities, integration and synthesis of this position must be in accordance with Accreditation Canada (EQual tm) accreditation standards and Dalhousie University Academic Governance.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Bachelor of Health Science (Respiratory Therapy) or relevant degree required
- Master's degree in health-related discipline or education preferred
- Active practicing License with Nova Scotia Regulator of Respiratory Therapists (NSRRT) required
- Current and active Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT) membership required
- Three years of relevant clinical experience in Respiratory Therapy required
- BLS-C (HCP) certification required
- Three years' experience as a Preceptor, working directly with students in a clinical setting an asset
- Current ICU experience is an asset
- Understanding of research design elements: methodology, data collection, analysis and synthesis
- Proficiency in conflict resolution involving preceptors, learners and faculty
- Leaderships skills that position faculty/educators to enhance and advance the professions through university and professional initiatives
- Knowledge of the principles of adult teaching and learning and experience in facilitating learning activities
- Proficiency in platform and software applications such Learning Management System (LMS), Brightspace;
Microsoft Office Suite; and clinical systems (e.g. PACS) - Training on new clinical care equipment is ongoing, i.e. simulation devices, ventilators, and multimodality imaging systems.
- Competencies in other languages preferred, French an asset

Hours
- Long Assignment Full-Time position; 75 hours biweekly
- Approximately 16 months
Compensation and Benefits
$40.50 - $55.93 hourly
