About Us
The Orthotics and Prosthetics services of the Assistive (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). at the Nova Scotia Rehabilitation & Arthritis Centre is the largest public provider of orthotic and prosthetic care in Nova Scotia. We work collaboratively with our clients, families and other members of many health care teams to support our client’s goals. This Summer Student position will foster an in-depth learning environment for a student currently enrolled in an accredited orthotics or prosthetic technical or clinical training program.
The summer student will have the opportunity to work alongside Orthotic, Prosthetic, Pedorthic and other professional staff in both observational and hands-on clinical and fabrication activities, providing broad exposure to a variety of healthcare disciplines within the portfolio.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Currently enrolled in an Orthotics Prosthetics Canada accredited Prosthetic and Orthotic clinical or technical training program
- Excellent interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Able to work independently and in a team setting
- Ability to support individuals with a person centred approach and recognize the importance of equity in health care
- Interest and understanding of the use of assistive technology for people with disabilities
- An understanding of confidentiality, and commitment to the protection of personal health information
- Criminal record and vulnerable sector record checks required

Hours
- Full-time, student position; 75 hours bi-weekly
- Anticipated start and end date:
June - August
Compensation and Benefits
$21.67 Hourly + 4% in lieu of benefits and vacation
