Position:
Psychologist (LTA Instructor) at Dalhousie University, Department of Psychology & Neuroscience, Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Limited Term appointment. Up to two positions funded through March
31, 2029. 0.8
FTE for one individual or two individuals at 0.4
FTE each.
Associated with the Dalhousie Centre for Psychological Health (CPH), a community‑based psychology training clinic within the Clinical Psychology PhD Program, in partnership with the Dalhousie Youth Mental Health (DalYMH) initiative.
Reports to the Dean of the Faculty of Science via co‑Directors of the CPH and Director of Clinical Training of the Clinical Psychology PhD program.
The DalYMH is a Health Canada funded initiative that partners with community‑based organisations (CBOs) to identify youth mental health needs and co‑create culturally informed, evidence‑based training and service‑delivery supports.
Responsibilities- Provide supervision and training to clinical psychology graduate students within the CPH clinic team.
- Collaborate with CBO staff and allied health professionals as needed.
- Provide limited direct psychological intervention and psychological assessments when appropriate for training and continuity of care.
- Travel within Nova Scotia as required.
- PhD or PsyD in Clinical, School, or Counseling Psychology.
- Eligibility for registration as a Registered Psychologist with the Nova Scotia Regulator of Psychology.
- Appropriate liability insurance as required by the Regulator.
- Demonstrated experience providing clinical supervision.
- Experience delivering evidence‑based psychological assessment (psycho educational and psychodiagnostic) and treatment (individual and group).
- Experience working with youth and young adults.
- Experience working with diverse communities, including Mi’kmaq, African Nova Scotian, 2
SLGBTQIA+, and newcomer youth. - Solid commitment to culturally responsive, trauma‑informed, and equity‑oriented practice.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship‑building skills.
- Valid Nova Scotia driver’s licence and access to a vehicle for travel.
- Strongly preferred: experience collaborating with community‑based organisations or working in community mental health settings and familiarity with systemic barriers affecting youth mental health access in Nova Scotia.
