Position: Personal Care Worker - Casual (External)
Job Purpose

The Person al Care Worker is a frontline role responsible for delivering high-quality, person-centered support to tenants within a 24/7 supportive housing environment.

This role combines direct care, mental health and substance use support, and operational leadership to ensure safe, consistent, and trauma-informed service delivery aligned with a Housing First and harm reduction framework.

Responsibilities

Delivering 'on - demand' supports and programs following a 'housing first' philosophy as part of a collaborative team.

Following prescribed policies and procedures associated with the housing program.

Supporting participants through a person-centered approach.

The Person al Care Worker (PCW) will work with an interdisciplinary team to support participants of Brunswick Street - a supported housing program for senior to age in place with wrap‑around supports. The interdisciplinary team provides 24/7 support to tenants around life skills and health and wellness to ensure participants can effectively manage their tenancy and lives.

Education and Experience

Minimum 2+ years experience in mental health and substance use (mandatory)

Harm reduction (mandatory)

Emergency shelter and/or transitional housing settings (mandatory)

Demonstrated ability to apply a trauma-informed approach

Assets

Formal education in social, health, addictions, human services or community work

Lived/living experience related to the population served

Cultural understanding and relevant training

Diploma is an asset but not a requirement

Lived and/or living experiences of homelessness, mental health and substance misuse an asset

Demonstrated experience working with individuals with complex health and social needs including substance use, chronic illness, cognitive decline, and social isolation, homelessness and/or barriers to stable housing
