Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and administer individual and group physical therapy sessions.
  • Assist residents with therapeutic intervention programs such as range of motion, progressive resistive and stretching, and ADLs under PT and OT guidance.
  • Collaborate with residents, their families, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, and other interdisciplinary team members in developing Individualized Service Plans.
  • Administer treatments using standard therapeutic methods and techniques assigned by the PT and OT.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, Substitute Decision Makers, OT, PT, and the Wellness Team through verbal, written, and electronic means.
  • Clean and sterilize areas and equipment as required; maintain general housekeeping of the department.
  • Maintain equipment inventory and assist with department audits and inspections.
  • Assist residents in ambulation, with or without an ambulatory aid, under the direction of the Physiotherapist.
  • Document according to policy and procedures, including Daily Resident Care Record, resident progress notes, incident reporting, PPCA, and Critical Incidents.
  • Observe and monitor residents’ responses during treatment, ensuring safety and reporting progress to PT/OT.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Post‑secondary education in Physiotherapy from an approved college or a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology.
  • U-First training and/or a Dementia Care Course considered an asset.
  • Previous experience working in a long‑term care environment considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of basic resident care practices and principles.
  • Passion for the healthcare sector and/or ensuring seniors have access to quality accommodations, services, and care.
