Become a key contributor at Nova Scotia Health as a Full-Time Utility Worker in Halifax offering support in the Sterile Processing Department. Deliver essential patient care items and maintain cleanliness throughout your shifts.
In this permanent position, you will report to the department's Manager and Supervisor. Your responsibilities include handling soiled items, unloading washers, and interacting with patient care areas. With recent experience in dealing with blood and body fluids, you will ensure compliance with decontamination and sterilization practices for patient care items.
Key Responsibilities:
• Pick up soiled items from patient care areas
• Deliver clean items to hospital departments
• Unload washers and dry patient care items
• Document work accurately within the department
• Distribute decontaminated surgical instrumentation
Requirements:
• Grade XII with strong reading/writing skills
• WHIMS certification required
• Experience in decontamination and sterilization
• Ability to handle physically demanding tasks
• Competencies in other languages an asset
