- Operate X-ray, radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment
- Operate computerized tomography (CT) scanners
- Operate magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanners
- Operate mammography units
- Operate radiation therapy equipment
- Position patients
- Train technicians, assistants, students or interns
- Wear radiation detection equipment to acquire data for use by nuclear medicine physicians in the diagnosis of disease
- Perform diagnostic procedures using radioactive materials on biological specimens
- Record and process results of procedures
- Apply radiation protection measures
- Explain procedures and side effects of radiation
- Perform basic verification and quality control checks on radiographic and film processing equipment
- Record and process patient data
- Provide appropriate care and monitoring of the patient during the examination Supervision
- 1 to 2 people Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses
- Certification of the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists
- Certification by a provincial or territorial association Specialization or experience
