Radiology Technologist II

Position Summary Reporting to the Manager, Diagnostic Imaging, the Radiology Technologist II is responsible for performing radiological procedures for the purpose of medical diagnosis in the operating room and in the X‑ray department as needed. The technologist will troubleshoot equipment, ensure diagnostic and accessory equipment functions properly, and collaborate with the inter‑disciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities Assess requisitions for appropriate examinations, views, and equipment required.
Obtain pertinent patient information and liaise with the attending radiologist and surgeon in the OR.
Ensure patients are informed about procedures and are properly prepared prior to commencement of exams.
Select techniques that provide quality imaging while minimizing radiation exposure to patients and staff.
Practice sterile technique when required.
Perform clerical duties related to the care of the patient.
Hours of Work 75 hours biweekly, with variable shift lengths and rotating days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Qualifications Graduate of an approved school of Radiological Technology.
Current registration or eligibility for registration with the Nova Scotia College of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Professionals (NSCMIRTP).
Successful completion of a Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada Basic Life Support (BLS) program within the last 12 months or a BLS Renewal Challenge Certificate.
Paediatric imaging experience is an asset.
Ability to make independent technical decisions and work as part of an inter‑disciplinary team.
Well‑developed decision‑making, interpretation, negotiation, and problem‑solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Competency in other languages will be considered an asset.
Benefits Hourly wage: $34.78 – $46.04.
One‑time signing bonus of $10,000 and up to $5,000 in relocation assistance for successful external applicants (subject to eligibility).
Return of service requirement: two years.
