Job Summary and Requirements This postingThis posting will be used to fill 1 (one) term part-time position working 30 hours biweekly from August 31, 2026 – April 2, 2027. It will establish a 12-month eligibility list which may be used to fill anticipatory permanent, term, and AOC positions.

Who we areThe Yukon Home Care Program provides client-focused health services in the home, improving quality of life and supporting Yukoners to live independently. Home Care offers a range of services tailored to meet individual needs, including support for acute care, chronic and palliative conditions. These services are determined through standardized assessments to assist in creating individualized plans of care; and are supported by an interdisciplinary team, consisting of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Registered Nurses and Home Support Workers.
As an integral team member, the Home Support Worker provides home support services to individual clients of Yukon Home Care Program to promote optimum level of functioning in the skills/activities of daily living and quality of life of clients. The home support services include tasks like safety cleaning, providing respite, meal preparation, transportation for groceries and personal care.

- Experience providing care in a home setting, through formal Home Care services or personal caregiving for someone in their home
- Experience providing personal care, home management, and respite care in a community setting
Candidates who have experiences equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above and/or are compassionate and have a willingness to help community members to age in place will be equally considered.
Desired knowledge, skills and suitabilityIf selected for an interview, candidates should have, and may be assessed o n, the following:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Passion for providing care for chronically ill or elderly client
- Ability to respect confidentiality
- Ability to work independently as well as within a team
- Experience working with various cultural backgrounds
You must meet the following conditions before being hired, or within the time frame noted.
- TB Screening
- RCMP Security Clearance with Vulnerable Sector Check
- CPR level C with AED (within last 18 months)
- Food Safe (within last 2 years)
- Valid Yukon Class 5 Driver’s Licence (without daylight restrictions).
This job requires you to perform, and/or be exposed to, the following:
- Variable home conditions
- Shift work (includes evenings and weekends)
- Exposure to latex products, pets, second‑hand smoke, plants and flowers
- Heavy lifting and bending (i.e. assisting with client transfers/mobility/personal care)
- Travel within the territory during inclement weather conditions may be required.
