About the facility:

Elder Catherine Charles Long-term Care Home is responsible for the provision of quality care to clients by providing personal care and respite assistance to clients based on their assessed needs. This is a 24 - hour, 365 days' facility that provides level 1, 2 and 3 cares to residents admitted into the facility. The main goals are to provide direct care and monitor residents' health conditions.

About

the position:

Working 12-hour shifts with a rotating schedule, Personal Care Workers are responsible for client care, guidance, support and supervise individuals while in the care of LLRIBHS;
Use a team approach to plan, organize and supervise daily activities; prepare and serve meals as planned;
Administer prescribed medications;

Duties:
  • Support and supervise elderly individuals on Medical Appointments or outings;
  • Proving personal care according to the approved care plan for clients, such a physical exercise, personal hygiene, (grooming), bathing, dressing, changing depends;
  • Assisting clients with activities of daily living, assisting clients at mealtime, caring of bed ambulatory patients;
  • Assess needs of residents on an on-going basis;
  • Maintain sanitation of Long-term Care Home;
  • 12- hour shift with rotating schedule (Overtime may be required);
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor;
Qualifications:
  • Continuing Care Aide Certificate required;
    Minimum grade 12 or equivalent;
  • Certified First Aide & CPR and Safe Food Handling Certificate required or willing to obtain;
  • Must be able to work independently and collaboratively with the Elder Home team, and demonstrate strong organizational skills;
  • Strong Written and verbal communication;
  • Previous home care or childcare experience is an asset;
  • Experience working with First Nations Communities is an asset;
  • Must Possess a valid Class 5 Driver’s License;
  • Ability to speak/understand Cree is a definite asset;
