Faculty – Information Technology Education, IT Campus – Halifax, Nova Scotia – School of Technology & Environment (Term, Full‑time).
Position:
Commencing approximately December 15, 2025 and ending May 29, 2026. Final date to receive applications is 11:59 pm, November 13, 2025.
Salary: NSCC Faculty salary scale ranges from $78,771.88 to $. New Faculty may receive up to five steps for relevant occupational experience and an additional four steps for full‑time equivalent years of instructional experience, for a maximum of nine steps or $97,388.02.
Responsibilities Provide theoretical and practical instruction across a variety of IT programs.
Develop and implement courses in systems, cyber, programming, data, and introductory modules in other domains.
Collaboratively design and deliver educational experiences for a diverse group of learners, including preparation, instruction, assessment, and evaluation.
Use flexible teaching and learning practices and technologies (e.g., Learning Management Systems such as Brightspace and classroom technology).
Engage in academic and career advisement, committee participation, program marketing, curriculum revision/development, support and monitoring of work placements, liaison with business and industry, and representing the College.
Ensure health and safety practices are followed in classrooms, shops, and labs.
Maintain currency with the latest industry practices and continually develop 21st‑century teaching and learning practices.
Teach in various delivery modalities (in‑class, online, blended online/in‑class), and at alternate work hours (weekends and evenings) as required.
Qualifications and Occupational Experience Minimum educational qualification: college diploma or university degree related to Information Technology.
Five years of recent and related occupational experience in information technology, with focused strength in at least one IT domain.
Experience in a supervisory capacity, evaluation, monitoring, assessment, and advising (asset).
Technical knowledge and skills in: JavaScript (ES6)/Python, web frameworks, No
SQL platforms (Mongo, Cloud Firestore)
Source control (git preferred)
Linux, Windows
Programming (preferably Python)
AI‑related development
Additional technical skills desirable: Cloud services (AWS, Azure, Firebase)
Virtualization/containers (VMware, Virtual Box, OpenVZ, KVM, Docker)
Relational databases (MS SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, SQLite)
Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, email, and basic internet research skills.
Comfortable working in a digital environment and commitment to using technology to support an exceptional student experience.
Experience liaising with business and industry in the field.
Related experience in delivering educational programs or training to adults (asset).
Knowledge and experience in applying WHMIS, occupational health and safety, and occupation‑specific safety practices.
Comfortable using multimedia technologies and platforms for online and blended learning.
Ability to teach effectively in an online/blended environment, including building best practices for course delivery.
Willingness to participate in training for online/blended delivery if lacking prior experience.
