Job Description

What is the opportunity?

RBC's AI Innovation team, within Technology & Operations, designs and delivers agentic AI solutions that transform how Risk and Compliance functions operate. We engage stakeholders to identify pain points and build AI-powered solutions – from intelligent document analysis and automated report generation to virtual agents that handle complex, manually intensive tasks. Working alongside subject matter experts, product owners, and engineering teams, we leverage large language models, agentic frameworks, and cloud infrastructure to bring these solutions to production.

This is a roving, high-impact role that will require parachuting into any risk or compliance domain area to deliver AI solutions. It is ideal for someone who is energized by building AI-powered automation and decision-making solutions. The challenges will be a mix of building from scratch and integrating existing systems.

What will you do?

  • Development: Design, build, and deploy agentic AI systems using Python, large language models, and modern AI frameworks. You will prototype rapidly and iterate solutions into production-grade systems that can interpret natural language queries, retrieve and validate information, automate complex analysis, and triage alerts.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with subject matter experts, product owners, and business stakeholders across risk and compliance to understand pain points, scope solutions, and deliver working software that addresses real operational needs.

  • Infrastructure: Build and maintain data pipelines, automated workflows, and integrations on cloud platforms (AWS, Snowflake). Establish and promote best practices related to MLOps, tooling, and deployment.

  • Research & Innovation: Stay current with advances in LLMs, agentic frameworks, and AI tooling. Apply emerging techniques to real-world problems, develop reusable tools and packages, and share insights with the team.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Proficient programming skills in Python; comfortable writing clean, production-quality code

  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with cloud data platforms

  • Ability to work independently across unfamiliar domains and ramp up quickly

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field

Nice-to-have

  • Experience with large language models or agentic AI frameworks such as Lang Graph, Pydantic

    AI or CrewAI

  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and agent protocols (e.g., MCP)

  • Experience with AWS services, Snowflake, or similar cloud infrastructure

  • Background in risk management, compliance, or financial services

  • Experience with version control, CI/CD, and software engineering best practices

What's in it for you?
