Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) is looking for a part-time (casual) Consumer Information Officer to provide the public with general insurance information by directly handling consumer inquiries with respect to property and casualty insurance.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesContribute to public awareness by assisting consumers on matters relating to insurance coverage and claims, across the country
Maintain a high degree of technical knowledge by monitoring legislative changes, policy changes, coverage and general industry information
Responding to and tracking public inquiries via telephone and e-mail relative to property and casualty insurance in a timely manner
Participate in monthly meetings and occasional training sessions
Record and follow-up on all consumer inquiries as necessary
Alert manager on changes impacting the Consumer Info Centre including market trends
Manage a high volume of inquiries after severe weather events providing general insurance information
QualificationsProven track record with a minimum 20 years’ experience in the property and casualty insurance industry
Understanding of all aspects of property and casualty insurance, Canada wide
Problem solving and coping skills, with adaptability to frequent change
Strong written and oral communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Outlook
Professional and pleasant telephone manner
Insurance industry designations an asset
Ability to speak French is an asset
