Housekeeper - Term Evenings

Position: Housekeeper - Term (4 months) - Full Time - Evenings
Housekeeper  – Halifax, Northwood

We are seeking a reliable and diligent Housekeeper to join our Halifax team. The position reports to the Manager, Environmental Services and involves cleaning duties and creating a safe working environment.

Qualifications

Minimum of Grade X or equivalent.

Ability to read, write, comprehend and follow written instructions.

Must be able to lift, pull, push and move heavy equipment and furniture regularly (up to 50 lbs).

Good personal hygiene.

Previous laundry experience.

Regular and consistent attendance per Northwood corporate standards.

Ability to work well with co‑workers, supervisors, and residents.

Can work independently with minimal supervision.

At least 2 years of housekeeping experience in long‑term care or acute‑care settings.

Knowledge of floor stripping, WHMIS, carpet care, and refinishing floors.

Responsibilities

Perform cleaning functions in assigned areas.

Collect and transport garbage and recycling, including pushing/pulling carts.

Carry out periodic floor and carpet maintenance per established procedures.

Operate washers and dryers following set formulas and manufacturer instructions.

Assist with laundry duties such as folding, untangling, pressing, packaging, and distributing clean linen.

Clean and maintain washing and drying equipment, including linen rooms.

Follow safe chemical work practices, including proper labeling, storage, and PPE usage.

Maintain cleanliness, orderliness, and general repair of equipment and work area.

Complete project or special cleaning tasks assigned by supervisor.

Prepare setups for special functions.

Move office furniture as directed by supervisors.

Other duties as assigned.

Hours of Work
80 Hours Biweekly (8‑hour shifts)
