Labourers (Industrial Spray Painters) - Halifax, NS
RESPONSIBILITIES
Spray painting marine and industrial coatings to a specified application requirement
General surface preparation and brush and roller painting
Work setting experience: shipbuilding and repair, steel industry
Type of materials or products: general metal products, construction materials or coatings
General maintenance of spray-painting equipment like proper spray pump flushing and cleaning after use
QUALIFICATIONS
Education Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Years of Experience
Required:
3+ years (Industrial)
Ability to work with different types of materials or products such as general metal products, construction materials or coatings
Complete understanding of Industrial spray-painting equipment including airless, hvlp and conventional spray painting and general labour skills
Must be able to wear respiratory protection as required or have a PAPR
Must be capable of working at heights and in confined spaces
You must be eligible to work in Canada to apply for this job
A pre-employment physical is required
A background check will be performed by the Employer
Physical effort and work conditions:
Work at heights from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms possibly and including MEWP Equipment
Stand, stoop, bend, kneel, and climb
Work in confined spaces, inclement weather and hot / cold environments
Support extended hours and overtime as business needs dictate
Work may be performed indoors and outdoors
Frequently handle, lift, carry, and set up parts and equipment that weigh up to fifty (50lbs) pounds
Occasionally lift and carry items that weigh over fifty (50lbs) pounds
Must be able to work with Industrial chemicals
Must have a strong will to learn skills like blueprint reading / no paint mark up
Able to apply coatings at the specified wet film thickness
A good understanding of industrial spray painting and surface preparation standards considered an asset
