Position: INTERIM COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR AND OFFICE ADMINISTRATOR

The Department of University Relations at Mount Saint Vincent University invites applications for the position of Interim Communications Coordinator and Office Administrator.

Classification: 12 Months, Part-Time Temporary Contract Position
Salary: $62,452 per annum (full-time equivalent), prorated based on a 20-hour work week.

Qualifications
Post-secondary education in a related field and a minimum of two years of relevant previous work experience are required for this position. A degree or diploma in public relations or communications would be an asset. Strong writing, editing, communications, project and event management skills are essential. The ideal candidate will also have a working knowledge of basic budget management procedures. Proficiency with MS Office products including Word, Excel and PowerPoint is a must, while experience with Adobe InDesign and Photoshop would be an asset.

The successful candidate will be a team player with demonstrated leadership and relationship management skills, organized and able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, while ensuring deadlines are met. Candidates should be results and solutions oriented, with a proven ability to take initiative.

Responsibilities
The Communications and Marketing team is responsible for the delivery and implementation of strategic marketing, advertising, media relations and communications plans and that advance the University's strategic goals. The Communications Coordinator and Office Administrator reports to the Director of Communications and Marketing, and contributes to the team's success by providing communications support and project management, as well as overall office support.

This is a temporary, part-time opportunity (20 hours per week) with an anticipated term of 12 months to cover a maternity leave.

Coordinate media monitoring, including preparing regular reports of relevant news coverage for senior leadership and responding to faculty/department requests for media analytics and reports

Write and edit communications materials, including profiles, features, presentations, and media relations materials for internal and external audiences

Coordinate the planning and execution of special events, including annual Pride events, Tree Lighting, and Campus Exchange events

Research and monitor issues, news, and trends affecting the post-secondary sector

Design communications and marketing materials, including email banners, social media graphics, posters, digital signage, and other promotional assets

Support social media activities, including monitoring channels, drafting responses to inquiries, and developing proactive content

Support internal communications by developing and publishing content for the faculty and staff intranet and student communications portal; advising university teams on intranet content; and producing a weekly faculty and staff e-newsletter

Coordinate on-campus digital signage, the Bedford Highway sign, exterior themed flag displays

Develop (research, write, design) key Communications & Marketing documents (e.g. the department annual report)

Support the implementation of communications and marketing plans, campaigns, and projects

Process invoices, and manage relationships with external suppliers and related internal stakeholders

Coordinate the maintenance of Communications & Marketing office space, equipment, and supplies

Respond to communications, marketing, and information requests from internal and external stakeholders, including requests for promotional materials, logos, images, and brand assets
