Make a Living. Make a Difference.

Every day, people around the world face challenges that deserve more attention - from humanitarian emergencies and poverty to environmental protection, human rights, and access to essential resources.

Behind the organizations working to address these issues are everyday people who choose to get involved.

Your job is to help make those connections happen.

Public Outreach is hiring outgoing, compassionate, and motivated people to join our outdoor, face-to-face fundraising team in Halifax.

You'll represent nonprofit organizations working on humanitarian relief, environmental protection, human rights, and social justice - helping inspire people to become long-term supporters of causes that matter.

This isn't a desk job. It's an active, outdoor position where you'll meet people, build confidence, and develop communication skills while earning a guaranteed hourly wage.

We're looking for people who care about others, enjoy meaningful conversations, and are comfortable staying active and working outdoors.

WHAT YOU'LL ACTUALLY BE DOING

You'll work alongside a supportive team, connecting with members of the public throughout Halifax.

Your day will involve:

Starting conversations with people in public spaces and residential neighbourhoods

Sharing information about important nonprofit campaigns

Helping people understand how ongoing donations support nonprofit programs

Inspiring individuals to become monthly donors

Walking between outreach locations, including navigating stairs and neighbourhoods

Working toward individual and team fundraising goals

Developing communication, public speaking, and leadership skills

This is a physically active, outdoor fundraising position. You'll spend much of your shift walking, standing, climbing stairs, and speaking with members of the public.

Our teams work outdoors in all safe weather conditions, including rain, cold, and warmer temperatures, with appropriate safety precautions.

It's rewarding work, but it also takes resilience. Not everyone will stop to talk, and that's okay. What matters is your ability to stay positive, respectful, and motivated.

PAY, BENEFITS & OPPORTUNITIES

$19/hour guaranteed starting pay - not commission-based

$20/hour after training and evaluation

Paid training from your first day

Full-time and part-time opportunities

Regular performance reviews and opportunities for raises

Leadership opportunities, based on performance

Benefits after 6 months for eligible full-time employees

Paid time off and sick pay

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

Opportunities to develop public speaking, communication, and leadership skills

We believe in promoting from within. Many of our team leaders began as fundraisers and developed their careers through hands-on experience.

SCHEDULE & WORK ENVIRONMENT

We offer full-time and part-time opportunities, with a minimum weekly commitment.

To be considered, applicants must be available to work at least 3 full 8-hour shifts per week.

Please keep in mind:

Each scheduled shift is 8 hours

A minimum commitment of 3 full shifts (24 hours) per week is required

This is an outdoor position, not an office-based role

Fundraisers work outdoors in all safe weather conditions, including rain, cold, and heat

The work involves extended periods of walking and standing, including navigating stairs and residential neighbourhoods

You will work alongside a team in public spaces and communities throughout Halifax

We want applicants to have a clear understanding of the position before joining our team.

WHO THRIVES IN THIS ROLE?

You don't need a particular degree or professional background to succeed here.

You might be a great fit if you:

Care about humanitarian issues, social justice, or making a positive difference

Enjoy meeting people and having meaningful conversations

Are confident speaking with strangers or excited to build that confidence

Can stay motivated even when someone says "no"

Enjoy active, outdoor work rather than sitting behind a desk

Can commit to at least 3 full 8-hour shifts every week

Are reliable, positive, and open to feedback

Want to develop skills that can lead to future career opportunities
