The Physician Assessment Centre of Excellence (PACE) is a dedicated assessment centre and medical clinic designed to evaluate internationally trained physicians (ITPs) in office-based primary care. PACE serves as a pathway to independent licensure in Nova Scotia by ensuring candidates demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and judgment required to practice safely and ethically in Nova Scotia.
As a Family Practice Nurse
, you’ll play a vital role in delivering comprehensive, patient-centered care while also supporting the professional development of physicians new to the Canadian healthcare system. Working closely with family physicians, assessment staff, and administrative teams, this role blends clinical care, mentorship, and operational support.
What You’ll Do:
Deliver evidence-based nursing care, including assessments, immunizations, chronic disease management, and patient educationCollaborate with physicians and healthcare staff to ensure high-quality care and smooth clinic operationsSupport internationally trained physicians through mentorship and guidance on clinical practices and Canadian standardsLead or assist with onboarding, vaccine management, and quality improvement initiativesUse tools such as Med Access and Ocean to support clinic efficiency and patient careWhat You Bring:
Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing with the Nova Scotia College of NursingMinimum 2 years’ experience as an RN, ideally with experience in a family practice or primary care settingProficiency with Med Access, Microsoft Office, and vaccine managementStrong communication and mentorship skills; experience with patient education and health behaviour change strategiesBCLS certification and a commitment to continuous learningWhy Join Us?
