Reporting to the Manager of Diagnostic Imaging, the Diagnostic Imaging (DI) Nurse is a part of an interdisciplinary care team, providing holistic, comprehensive evidenced-based care to meet the needs of individuals, families and/or communities. The DI Nurse is responsible for providing care to both pediatric and adult patients undergoing imaging (fluoroscopy, CT, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound and/or MRI) or interventional radiology procedures in both acute care and outpatient settings.
The DI nurse contacts patients/families (and/or inpatient unit/care teams) in advance of appointments with preparation instructions and education on pre- and post- sedation guidelines. This includes reviewing patient histories and initiating appropriate referral processes for any consults required prior to general anaesthesia.
The DI Nurse liases with internal partners to support coordination of patient care. The DI nurse acts as a resource to patients and families, and other healthcare providers, as well as the Diagnostic Imaging teams throughout the care continuum.
Hours of Work Varying shifts; 37.5 hours bi-weekly
Your Qualifications Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing Program.
Registered, or eligible to be registered, with the Nova Scotia Nursing and Midwife Regulator (NSNMR).
Minimum three (3) years nursing experience required, preferably Emergency, perianaesthesia and/or ICU…
