Bayshore Medical Personnel is excited to announce a Full‑Time contract opportunity for a Mental Health Registered Nurse to join our team in Halifax, NS. We’re looking for dedicated professionals with three (3) years of experience in Mental Health within the last five (5) years to make a meaningful impact in Military Health Services.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Mental Health Nurse who is looking for a day shift opportunity (no nights, no weekends), and who is ready for an exciting challenge working with an extremely unique and rewarding patient population.

Responsibilities

Our Mental Health Nurses (MHNs) provide Mental Health services to our client in a primary health care setting where they are responsible for assessment, nursing diagnosis, development and implementation of care plans, crisis intervention, and counseling and life skills programming to the clients in the clinic.

Key duties include providing counseling services in individual and/or group therapy sessions using CBT, DVT or motivational interview techniques; conducting bio‑psychosocial assessments; and medication management from an inpatient and outpatient perspective.

Education / Qualifications
  • All Nurses ­— Mental Health must be Registered Nurses.
  • Registered Nurses must, as a minimum, possess:
    • A Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a recognized college or university with either a certificate in Mental Health Nursing or certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing from the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA).
    • A Registered Nurse licence from the provincial or territorial professional college or association in the province of practice.
    • Certificate of Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider or equivalent such as Cardio‑pulmonary.
    • Resuscitation/Automated External Defibrillator (CPR/AED) Level

      C. Annual recertification is required.
