Become a vital part of the Veterinary programs at the University of Guelph as a Colony Coordinator. This position focuses on animal management and student support in a hands-on environment.
As a Colony Coordinator, you will work temporarily from August 17, 2026, to February 26, 2027, supervising animal care and assisting students. The role combines laboratory support, inventory management, and hands-on veterinary tasks. You will train students in responsible animal care, while overseeing adoption processes and equipment maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
• Aid instructors and students in veterinary laboratories
• Supervise the care and training of colony animals
• Maintain and order inventory for veterinary programs
• Perform animal treatments or assist with procedures
• Ensure effective communication with students
Requirements:
• Requires 2-year diploma and Registered Veterinary Technician status
• Desired 5 years of veterinary technician experience
• Ability to work independently on veterinary tasks
• Knowledge of veterinary management software
• Experience with large animals is an asset
