The Research Assistant contributes to multiple assigned oncology research studies with human participants, by assisting with study administration, by providing general administrative support (such as mail runs, lab kit ordering and receipt), and by entering and maintaining study data into research protocol‑specific databases. In your day‑to‑day, you will work directly with the team of Research Nurse coordinators and assist in preparing documentation they need prior to research participant encounters.
You will also interact directly with our study sponsor representatives (pharmaceutical companies and granting institutions), as they come on‑site to monitor data integrity and accuracy. For any noted omissions or discrepancies, the sponsor representatives may issue queries, which you will be in charge of (responses may be gathered from the physician investigator or the nursing team). You will report to the ACCRU Clinical Operations Manager.
- Completed or currently enrolled in post‑secondary education in a Health Science and/or Science related field (required)
- Two years research related experience (preferred)
- Good command of medical terminology
- Experience in data collection and data entry (asset)
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint), email and internet
- Effective communication, collaboration, problem solving and decision‑making skills
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to draft, format and edit office correspondence
- Well‑developed organizational, time management and daily planning skills
- Ability to work well independently as well as within a multi‑disciplinary team environment
- Previous experience in a health care/research setting (asset)
- Competencies in other languages (asset, French preferred)
- CCRP (Certified Clinical Research Professional) or CCRA (Certified Clinical Research Associate) (asset)
- TCPS2: CORE Certification considered an asset
Long assignment full‑time; 75 hours bi‑weekly. Approximately 12 months.
Compensation and Benefits$23.34 - $29.18 hourly. Successful candidates may be eligible for a benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long‑term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
