Join Nova Scotia's Department of Justice as a Relief Correctional Officer. Ensure safety and supervision of individuals in custody across various facilities, including Dartmouth and Sydney.
As a Relief Correctional Officer, you will oversee custody environments, participate in case management, and manage day-to-day operations within adult correctional facilities. This position requires dynamic interaction with individuals in custody, promoting pro-social behavior while handling administrative functions effectively. You will work on a rotating shift basis and respond to various tasks related to facility operations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Ensure secure custody and supervision of persons in custody
• Manage visits, phone calls, and escort individuals as needed
• Oversee facility cleaning and maintenance activities
• Support rehabilitation programs and encourage adherence
• Record and communicate essential information clearly
Requirements:
• High School diploma with 2 years related experience
• Background in law enforcement or security preferred
• Knowledge of Correctional practices an asset
• Leadership experience working with diverse populations
• Ability to work effectively in high-stress situations
