Position: Eeyou Istchee Community Support Worker
Location: Halifax Regional Municipality

We are looking for a committed Community Worker to identify the needs of the population and carry out community action programs. Applicants should possess a diploma in social service techniques or related fields alongside relevant knowledge of mental health and social issues specific to the Cree territory. You'll work collaboratively with other professionals to offer guidance and assistance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess community needs and implement effective programs

• Engage with individuals in crisis situations

• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams

• Provide counseling and maintain supportive relationships

• Educate on drug and alcohol addiction issues

Requirements:

• Diploma in social work techniques or related specialization

• Fluent in Cree and English, with French as a plus

• Strong understanding of Cree culture and healing practices

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

• Preferred: 1 year of experience in a similar role
