This is an onsite opportunity requiring 5 days work from CGI Halifax or Moncton office every week. This is an exciting time for CGI, and we want you to be part of it. We are seeking an experienced Java Developer at the level to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in back-end development, with extensive experience in modern web technologies and frameworks. Join this exciting new initiative as a Java Developer.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable full‑stack applications using Java and Spring Boot.

Collaborate in the development and deployment of applications using Docker and container orchestration.

Implement and manage messaging frameworks, including Kafka, for real‑time data processing.

Utilize AWS services for deploying and managing cloud‑based applications.

Develop and execute unit tests using Junit to ensure code quality and reliability.

Create and maintain API documentation with Swagger.

Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to streamline development and deployment processes.

Mentor and guide junior developers, fostering a collaborative and innovative team environment.

Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to gather requirements and deliver high‑quality software solutions.

Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies to drive continuous improvement.

Collaborate in the design, development, and deployment of complex web applications.

Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.

Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.

Participate in code reviews and contribute to the development of best practices.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

University or Technical Diploma in IT discipline with equivalent experience.

7+ years of software development experience.

Strong experience with Java 11/17 and its core concepts (Streams, Lambda, Exception Handling, Multithreading, Data Source).

Hands‑on experience with Spring Boot, Microservices, JDBC, ORM (Hibernate, Mybatis), REST API, Webservices, JMS and Kafka.

Good understanding of web protocols including HTTP, HTTPS, authentication protocols such as SSO/OAuth.

Tuning Java for performance and scalability using concurrency, memory management, I/O optimization, and profiling tools.

Understanding of relational database and SQL concepts.

Developing and tuning complex relational database applications using PL/SQL.

Experience with unit test frameworks like Mockito, Junit.

Exposure to CI/CD and version control using Dev Ops tools Git, Jenkins, and Jira.

Working knowledge on deployment of applications on Docker, Kubernetes and familiarity with AWS or other cloud environments and services.

Knowledge of UNIX shell scripting.

Familiarity with common collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams, Jira, Confluence, and Git, Git Hub.

Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to think critically.

Formal Java Developer Certification will be nice to have.

Formal Certification with Azure or AWS will be nice to have.
