Flutter Developer Regional Municipality

Overview  Insight Global is seeking a Frontend Developer skilled in Flutter for one of Canada's largest independent retailers. The successful candidate will be working on the store systems team to support the modernization of their in-house POS system used across hundreds of stores. We are looking for someone who is comfortable with hardware integrations (scanners, printers, PIN pads), builds offline-first UIs, and optimizes for performance and stability in long-running store sessions.
Responsibilities   Contribute to the development of a modernized in-house POS system used across hundreds of stores.
Design resilient, offline‑capable UIs for retail settings and store environments.
Collaborate on hardware integrations (scanners, printers, PIN pads) and ensure smooth operation with Flutter-based front ends.
Optimize applications for performance and stability in long-running store sessions.
Work with backend APIs, including handling unreliable network conditions.
Contribute to architecture, state management, and UI decisions within the Flutter ecosystem.
Required Skills & Experience   Solid Flutter/Dart experience across mobile and desktop platforms (not mobile-only).
Flutter desktop experience or working knowledge of .NET/C# and Linux/Unix environments.
Solid understanding of Flutter’s native state and UI architecture.
Experience building retail or POS‑style front ends (sales, returns, inventory, operations).
Ability to build offline‑tolerant, resilient UIs for store environments.
Experience consuming backend APIs in unreliable network conditions.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience   Familiarity with hardware / HID integration (scanners, printers, PIN pads).
