Senior Backend Identity Systems Engineer

Build high-availability, low-latency identity systems at Affirm while using Python or Kotlin to support authentication and verification journeys remotely.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will own delivery for critical backend systems serving all Affirm products. You will understand business, product, and engineering context while leading engineers through ambiguous, open-ended problems. The work includes distributed systems, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.

Key Responsibilities:

Own and deliver quarterly goals for your engineering team
Lead engineers through ambiguity and open-ended technical problems
Collaborate with product, design, and analytics stakeholders
Monitor metrics and support availability and on-call efforts
Improve code review and design standards through writing
Requirements:
Four or more years designing backend systems at scale
Experience using Python or Kotlin for backend development
Experience developing highly available distributed systems
Knowledge of AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes technologies
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Lead identity engineering through backend systems ownership, distributed systems expertise, and high-quality technical delivery at Affirm.
