Job Summary

Athletics and Recreation takes a holistic approach to enhancing the Dalhousie experience by creating and sharing ways to engage and connect students through physical activity and wellness, to contribute to student success. Reporting to the Manager, Campus & Community Recreation, the Campus Recreation Coordinator develops and implements student recreation programs and project initiatives that will ensure Dalhousie students have an opportunity to enrich their student experience through interaction, self-development, wellness initiatives, and leadership opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Schedule and organize intramural and club sport leagues and tournaments.
  • Responsible for program promotion and delivery, facility bookings, equipment inventory, participation tracking.
  • Assist with reporting and evaluation of offerings, as well as onsite supervision of events, including summer camps.
  • Administer bi-weekly student payroll and provide mentorship and guidance to student staff.
  • Recruit, schedule, and train casual staff while providing staff with tools, resources, and performance reviews for successful program delivery. Oversee schedules and assign tasks.
  • Coordinate administrative functions related to clubs, intramurals, and summer camps including facility bookings, website maintenance, and assisting with executive training and travel bookings.

    Due to operational requirements, the successful applicant is required to work in-person on campus.

    Required Qualifications

  • Business/Office Administration program and one to three years’ relevant experience working in Recreation with special event management, including experience with risk management (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills with a proven ability to multi-task effectively.
  • Self-starter with strong administration experience.
  • Ability to work independently, but thrive in a team environment.
  • Standard First Aid certification and High Five certification, or willingness to obtain.
