Relief Engineer Transit

Join Halifax Regional Municipality as a Relief Engineer/Deckhand, where your skills will enhance ferry operations in a full-time capacity. This role emphasizes technical maintenance alongside deck management duties.
As part of the Ferry Services team, you report to Supervisors and support the Vessel’s Captain. Your responsibilities include ensuring machinery is maintained, cabins are clean, and assisting fellow crew members. You'll also be involved in maintenance tasks and record-keeping for operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

• Follow Ferry Operations Manual diligently

• Maintain main cabin and machinery cleanliness

• Assist Ferry Crew as needed by the Captain

• Manage overhead door operations for passengers

• Log Engine Room activities accurately
Requirements:

• Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent

• Prior experience with marine engine systems

• Certification as Small Vessel Machinery Operator

• Current Marine Medical required

• Valid First Aid certification
