Position: Road Grader Operator, Public Works, BEARDY'S & OKEMASIS CREE NATION - Employment Opportunity

Responsible for the maintenance of the roads within the community of Beardys & Okemasis Cree Nation (BOCN). Perform grading, snow removal, gravel spreading, and road maintenance. Must ensure public safety and maintain equipment in good working condition.

• Operate a motor grader to maintain gravel roads, access roads, and rights-of-way.
• Grade roads to establish proper drainage and surface conditions.
• Remove wash boarding, potholes, ruts, and uneven surfaces.
• Spread gravel and road-building materials evenly.
• Shape road shoulders and ditches.
• Perform preventative maintenance inspections.
• Operate equipment safely and responsibly.
• Operate additional equipment as required.
• Identify signs of mechanical wear, hydraulic leaks, electrical problems, tire damage, loose components, and other equipment deficiencies.
• Complete and maintain work and maintenance logs.
• Report equipment defects and maintenance needs.
• Keep assigned equipment clean and properly maintained.
• Provide reports as required.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Heavy equipment program certification.
• Previous operator experience for at least 3-5 years (may be considered). Willing to take training as needed.
• Mechanically inclined, identifying equipment issues before they become costly breakdowns.
• Understanding of grades, plans, drawings, and overall road construction and maintenance.
• Ability to work independently.
• Clean driver’s abstract and a valid Class 5 driver’s license.
• Must be able to provide a CPIC.
