Job Description

• Key
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate and drive tractor-trailers to transport freight on long-haul routes
- Plan trips and routes to meet delivery schedules
- Perform pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections of the truck and trailer, including tires, lights, andbrakes
- Load and unload freight, or oversee loading and unloading
- Secure cargo properly and tarp loads when required
- Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled, and fuel consumption in the driverlogbook
- Receive and relay information to dispatch and communicate with customers at pick-up and delivery
- Comply with all provincial and federal transportation regulations and company safety policies
- May perform emergency roadside repairs if necessary
• Requirements
- Education:
Secondary high school graduation certificate
- Language:
English
- Experience:
Minimum 2 years of verifiable Class 1 driving experience
- Licences &
Certifications:
o Valid Class 1 (or
A) licenceo Air brake endorsement
• Work Conditions and Personal Suitability:
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position
- Sitting for long periods
- Attention to detail
- Work at various job sites within Nova Scotia Weight handling
- Up to 45 kg (100 lbs) Security and safety
- Clean driver’s abstract with zero accidents
- Clean criminal record check
