Overview
A well-established main contractor is looking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team based in Halifax.
The successful candidate will take full commercial responsibility for projects throughout the construction phase, managing costs from site start through to final account. You'll be trusted to run your own projects independently while working closely with the operational team to ensure commercial performance and successful project delivery.
Projects include a range of new build and refurb healthcare schemes valued up to £8m, delivered nationwide for NHS Trusts and private healthcare providers.
Key Responsibilities
Take full commercial responsibility for projects from site start through to final account
Prepare and submit client valuations, variations and final accounts
Manage subcontractor accounts, valuations, payments and final accounts
Monitor project costs, budgets and cash flow
Produce monthly cost reports and forecasts
Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities throughout the construction phase
Work closely with the Buyer, Project Managers and Site Managers to maintain commercial control across projects
Attend site visits and commercial meetings as required
Ensure projects are delivered within budget while maximising project profitability
Candidate Requirements
Previous experience working as a Quantity Surveyor for a Build Contractor, Main Contractor or D&B Contractor
Able to independently manage the commercial aspects of construction projects from site start through to final account
Experience delivering new build and refurb projects valued up to £8m
Strong understanding of valuations, variations, cost reporting and final accounts
Experience managing subcontractor accounts throughout the construction phase
Excellent commercial awareness, negotiation and communication skills
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites as required
