Location: The role will be based in the Bradford/Halifax area covering Chellow Heights, Albert, Fixby, and Kirkhamgate WTWs.
Work TypeWork Type: These are permanent positions, working an average of 37 hours per week. The working pattern covers the core business hours and will involve weekend working and taking part in a 24/7 standby rota once fully trained.

Water Production is a dynamic environment where water is continuously treated across 50 Water Treatment Works to produce safe drinking water. Operations involve using chemicals and processes to convert reservoir or river water into potable water, with mechanical and electrical equipment. This is an operational role rather than a design or supervisory type Process Engineer role.
Where you fit in- Based at a Water Treatment Works, you will complete operational and plant maintenance activities to provide wholesome water. Tasks include proactive planned work such as cleaning and calibrating instrumentation, completing laboratory checks, fault‑finding, integrating trend data, cleaning process tanks, and accepting chemical deliveries to ensure compliance with water quality standards and environmental regulations.
- You will lead chemical and process optimisation activities to achieve the production optimum plan, manage cost, minimise service outages, and support cost monitoring.
- You will review Risk Assessments and Methods Statements, issue control of work documentation, adhere to safe systems of work, identify hazards, implement mitigation, and update reporting systems to maintain H&S compliance with HSE, DWI, and statutory requirements.
- You will play a vital role in completing operational actions on site, supporting incidents or events, and ensuring they are escalated and managed appropriately.
- You will embrace modernisation ways of working and reduce asset failure through Dynamic Asset Maintenance while supporting the new operational asset management system (ERP).
- Multiskilled with a hands‑on practical approach, preferably with Water Treatment experience but not essential. Willingness to learn, self‑taught, and awareness of regulatory Health, Safety and Environment obligations.
- Analytical, fault‑finding ability, data analysis and trend identification, rigorous attention to detail, IT proficiency, and knowledge of risk policies and procedures.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including colleagues across the business and service partners.
- Desirable: previous experience in a commercial or regulated environment, and experience in the water or wastewater sectors, utilities, process or manufacturing industries.
- Required:
ability to work within confined spaces, meeting strict medical criteria (BMI, vision, blood pressure, hearing, Spirometry) to ensure safety in hazardous environments. - Full, valid UK driving licence required, with no more than 6 points on the licence.
