Accounts / Credit Control Assistant

Location:

Halifax

Hours:

34 hours per week (Mon-Thurs 9:00am-5:00pm, Fri 9:00am-4:30pm)

The Opportunity

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Accounts / Credit Control Assistant to join a busy and supportive finance team in Halifax. This role would suit someone with strong attention to detail, a proactive mindset, and a keen interest in developing their finance and analytical skills within a collaborative environment.

The Role

You will play a key role in supporting the day-to‑day financial operations of the business, ensuring accurate record keeping, assisting with reporting, and acting as a point of contact for both internal teams and external clients.

Sales Ledger & Credit Control
  • Setting up new client accounts
  • Recording and allocating cash receipts
  • Reconciling cash receipt books and identifying discrepancies
  • Issuing client statements and handling related queries
Data & Reporting
  • Preparing monthly client reports
  • Reconciling data across multiple systems
  • Managing and analysing large data sets
  • Investigating discrepancies and producing ad‑hoc reports
Queries & Stakeholder Support
  • Responding to internal and external finance queries
  • Supporting teams with invoicing best practice
  • Ensuring timely resolution and escalation where needed
General Finance Administration
  • Managing shared accounts inbox
  • Supporting document management and filing
  • Assisting with year-end processes and archiving
About You
  • Previous experience in accounts, finance or credit control
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Confident using Excel and Microsoft Office
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage deadlines and prioritise workload
  • Proactive, reliable and a strong team player
  • Willingness to learn and develop new skills
Desirable
  • Experience working with overseas clients or multiple currencies
