Salary: £17.50 – £19.80 per hour, dependent on experience
About the RoleWe are currently recruiting for an experienced CNC Milling Programmer / Setter / Operator to join a well-established precision engineering business based in Halifax. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled CNC machinist with strong experience in programming, setting and operating 3 and 4-axis vertical milling machines using Heidenhain controls. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing high-precision components to exacting quality and tolerance standards, including machining challenging materials such as Inconel, Nitronic, stainless steel and other high-spec alloys.
WorkingHours
Monday – Thursday: 7:00am – 3:30pm Friday: 7:00am – 1:00pm 38 hours
Key Responsibilities- Program new CNC milling jobs directly at the machine using Heidenhain controls
- Set and operate vertical milling machines
- Load, prove, edit and optimise CNC programs
- Set up fixtures, vices and tooling accurately
- Machine components from a range of exotic and difficult-to-machine materials
- Interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
- Select appropriate tooling, feeds, speeds and cutting strategies
- Carry out first-off and in-process inspection
- Work to tight tolerances and high surface-finish requirements
- Identify and resolve machining, tooling and process issues
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment
- Follow all relevant health, safety and quality procedures
- Proven experience as a CNC Milling Programmer / Setter / Operator
- Strong knowledge of Heidenhain CNC controls
- Experience setting and operating vertical milling machines
- The ability to program directly at the machine
- Experience machining exotic or hard-to-machine materials such as Inconel or Nitronic
- Good knowledge of fixture setup, tooling selection and work offset setting
- A strong understanding of cutting tools and advanced machining practices
- The ability to work accurately to tight tolerances
- Excellent attention to detail and a self-motivated approach
- The ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Experience with one-off, prototype or small-batch production
- Experience with in precision or high-integrity industries such as aerospace, oil & gas, medical or motor sport
- Knowledge of continuous improvement or lean manufacturing techniques
- £17.50 – £19.80 per hour, dependent on experience
