Role Overview
We are looking for a passionate and motivated Wellbeing and Resilience Specialist to join our Branching Out team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting children and young people affected by parental or familial drug and alcohol use, helping them build resilience, improve emotional wellbeing, and achieve positive outcomes.
Responsibilities- Coordinate and develop Hidden Harm interventions and work collaboratively with wider drug and alcohol services, local partners, and community organisations across Calderdale.
- Lead the development of a wellbeing and resilience offer that supports children, young people, and families through a whole‑family approach, helping to rebuild relationships affected by substance use while promoting long‑term recovery and wellbeing.
- Work directly with children and young people affected by substance use within the family.
- Deliver a range of interventions including 1:1 support, group work, and community‑based activities.
- Support children and young people to improve emotional wellbeing, develop resilience, and better understand parental/carer substance use.
- Promote positive opportunities within local communities including youth clubs, sports centres, and support networks.
- Develop and maintain strong partnerships with children's services, schools, safeguarding teams, and other local agencies.
- Support the implementation of a whole‑family approach using models such as Strengthening Families.
- Ensure clear referral pathways and raise awareness of Hidden Harm support services across the locality.
- Manage a caseload including assessments, care planning, risk assessments, and ongoing support planning.
- Support, mentor, and supervise staff and volunteers where required.
- Analyse service information and contribute to service development and continuous improvement.
- Maintain accurate records and provide written and verbal reports as required.
- Contribute to KPI performance and quarterly reporting requirements.
- Ensure services are inclusive, accessible, and responsive to underrepresented groups.
- Work flexibly across operational sites, including occasional evening and weekend working where required.
- NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent/higher qualification), or willingness to work towards this qualification in post.
- Knowledge of Hidden Harm and safeguarding practices relating to children, young people, and families affected by substance use.
- Experience developing and implementing interventions and support plans.
- Experience carrying out assessments, care planning, and risk management within a multi‑agency framework.
- Strong communication, organisational, and partnership‑working skills.
- Ability to analyse and report on management information.
- Experience using Management Information Systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook programmes.
- A relevant professional qualification such as counselling, social work, addiction studies, or therapeutic qualifications.
- Experience delivering 1:1 and group interventions.
- Experience working with carers and families.
- Knowledge of best practice frameworks including NICE, DOH, NTA, NMC, Care Quality Commission, and Caldicott Standards.
