Production Helper – MICA Steelworks
Base pay range: $17.00/hr – $18.00/hr
Job Summary:
The Production Helper is responsible for assisting workers engaged in the fabrication of structural or metal products by performing several support duties and tasks.
Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent (required). 3‑6 months of manufacturing or warehouse experience; steel industry and/or galvanizing experience is a plus. Forklift and overhead crane certification required; may not operate until certified.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of electric and pneumatic hand tools.
- Read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Perform basic arithmetic in all units of measure.
- Apply common sense to written, oral, or diagram instructions.
- Diagnose problems with multiple variables in standardized situations.
- Work in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
- Effectively communicate in English (reading and writing).
- Maintain good attendance and punctuality.
- Work required overtime as needed.
- Follow leadsman’s directions.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain performance standards and meet production and quality expectations.
- Lift, position, and remove work pieces from machines to assist in fitting and welding.
- Load, stack, and transport stock, tools, dies, and work in process by hand or truck.
- Cleans and scraps metal being prepared to and from the fabricating, welding, painting, or shipping areas; maintain clean work area, machines, tools, and equipment.
- Picks up scraps from work areas; load and unload trucks.
- Grind burrs from holes on various parts; grind sharp corners from material.
- Assist fellow employees as directed; perform other duties as assigned.
Current Shifts:
Monday – Friday, 3:30 PM – 2:30 AM with Saturday as needed.
Working Conditions:
- Maximum shop exposure
- Exposure to extreme temperatures
- No travel required
Physical Demands: long hours of standing, squatting, bending, kneeling, reaching, twisting, exposure to moving equipment, temperature changes, dust, fumes, or gases.
Job type:
Full‑time
Pay: $17.00 – $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 55 per week

Shift options: 10‑hour shift, 8‑hour shift.

Education:
High school or equivalent (preferred).
Experience:
Manufacturing: 1 year (preferred).
Shift Availability:
Second Shift.
Relocation:
Haltom City, TX 76117 – relocate before starting work (required).

In person.
