BCAC Underground is looking for a dedicated and experienced Mechanic to join our Field Operations team. In this critical role, you will inspect, maintain, diagnose, and repair a wide range of diesel-powered vehicles and heavy equipment that support our underground utility operations. • Perform comprehensive inspections using advanced diagnostic software and tools.
• Identify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in diesel trucks and equipment.
• Complete a wide range of repairs from minor fixes to major overhauls (engines, transmissions, suspensions, brake systems).
• Perform part replacements and reconditioning as needed.
• Preventive Maintenance
  • Conduct routine service such as oil and filter changes, fluid checks, and tire rotations.
  • Ensure all fleet vehicles and equipment are operating at peak performance.
• Documentation
  • Maintain accurate service logs, parts usage, and repair records.
  • Ensure compliance with BCAC procedures and all applicable federal/state regulations.
• Work closely with operations and field teams to minimize equipment downtime.
• Clearly communicate findings and repair timelines to internal stakeholders.
• Shop & Field Support
  • Perform repairs in the shop and, when necessary, provide roadside or on-site field repair services.
• Safety Compliance
  • Adhere strictly to all OSHA and company safety protocols.
  • Use PPE and maintain a clean, safe workspace at all times.

• Required:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working on diesel engines or heavy equipment.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work in physically demanding environments.
  • Valid driver’s license.
• Preferred:
  • Formal training or technical certification in diesel technology.
  • ASE certification(s) in diesel repair.
  • CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) for equipment testing or road operation.
  • Familiarity with hydraulic systems and electronic control modules (ECMs).
