Business Development Manager – Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)

With a strong focus on accelerating the energy transition, my client develops and delivers integrated solutions that support a more sustainable and resilient energy infrastructure.

Role Overview
My client is seeking a Business Development Manager to support the growth of its Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) portfolio in Germany. The role will focus on identifying, acquiring, and securing land suitable for the development and facilitate the sale of there equipment for battery storage projects.

This position will begin as a remote role, with a planned transition to a hybrid working model based in Hamburg.

Key Responsibilities

Identify and secure land opportunities for BESS developments, including solar and wind co-located sites
Develop relationships with landowners, developers, utilities, and local stakeholders
Lead early-stage project development activities from site identification through to agreement execution
Work closely with internal technical, commercial, and legal teams to progress projects
Engage with OEMs and external partners to support project feasibility and delivery
Monitor market trends, grid opportunities, and regulatory developments related to energy storage
Support the development of a robust pipeline of BESS projects

Ideal Criteria
Proven experience in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
Strong background in business development, project development, or land acquisition within renewables
Experience working with OEMs and technical partners
Ability to work independently in a remote environment
Strong negotiation, stakeholder management, and commercial skills
