Job SummaryPlay a pivotal role in the success of a $12b program of capital bridge projects, focusing on design and construction of numerous bridge rehabilitation and/or replacement projects as part of Amtrak’s New Era of Rail. These programs include large-scale and long-lived, complex, and cross-departmental infrastructure, with significant impact to the Northeast Corridor (NEC) and beyond.
The Senior Project Controls Manager – Cost Engineering & Controls is responsible for developing, using, and improving existing enterprise tools, systems and work processes to drive effective management, control, and reporting on cost, schedule, quality and progress measurement for a high complexity project or a moderate complexity program as well as ensuring the Program stays within the approved scope, schedule, and budge.
This leader will ensure adequate and timely support to Project Teams is obtained from other functions. Individuals in this role may act as a Cost Manager and provide audit and standardization functions across both the portfolio’s projects and the project teams while supporting other internal and external commercial challenges, as assigned. The ideal candidate will also support and develop project dashboards, cost, and resource performance reports, and change logs and risk registers in close collaboration with Project Teams, Executive Sponsors and Senior PMO Leaders at the portfolio or mega program level.
Senior Project Controls Managers work under minimal supervision with matrixed subordinate team members and direct reports delivering on tight and timely deadlines while holding teams accountable to the highest standard.
The successful candidate will help lead the execution of challenging, signature bridge projects through both design and construction. This candidate shall deliver safe, on-time, cost-effective and high-quality projects for Amtrak.
Essential Functions- Work with Project/Program team and leadership to build risk management strategy.
- Lead the Project/Program team through risk, issue, and opportunity management.
- Track potential changes, ensuring estimates of cost and schedule changes are given visibility with the executive sponsor.
- Integrate cost and schedule data as well as information for vendors and external entities to facilitate risk, schedule and budget performance reporting.
- Develop reporting mechanisms, dashboards and presentations about project performance indicators and feed this data to ensure a cohesive picture of the Project/program and/or portfolio.
