POSITION SUMMARY
:
We are seeking a passionate Senior Coordinator to lead health initiatives for individuals with intellectual disabilities. This role will oversee the development and implementation of outcome-driven programming. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in program planning, stakeholder engagement, and a commitment to disability justice and health equity. This is a forty hour per week full-time non-exempt position (Hourly Rate: $25/hour).
Some evening and weekends required.
- Coordinate health screenings, education, and resources through the Healthy Athletes®
* program; serve as the primary SOCT liaison to key stakeholders, Clinical Directors, and volunteers. Build and maintain strong relationships to ensure the ongoing success of the program. - Oversee the Young Athletes®
* early childhood sports program for children ages 2–7, with and without intellectual disabilities, in community settings. - Develop and disseminate health information and resources for families and caregivers; facilitate Family Health Forums
*. - Develop and manage budgets for health-related initiatives (e.g., Healthy Athletes®, Family Health Forums, Young Athletes®), ensuring all activities operate within the approved budget.
- Manage follow-up care across Healthy Athletes® disciplines.
- Collect, analyze, and utilize program data to evaluate performance and demonstrate impact.
- Cultivate new partnerships and maintain existing relationships with community healthcare organizations to support screenings, education, and follow-up care.
- Collaborate with department staff and community partners to train healthcare professionals and students on inclusive health practices and care for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
- Maintain and update content for the Health & Wellness section of the organization’s website with support of marketing and communications.
- Develop and manage health information and resources for families and caregivers including facilitating Family Health Forums.
- Support grant writing and fundraising efforts related to health programming, as needed.
- Deliver health-related presentations to diverse audiences.
- Adhere to SOCT’s policies, procedures, and non-discrimination policy.
- Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, Planner), Zoom, and Canva.
- Must have a valid Connecticut driver’s license.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor and/or President.
- Bachelor’s degree in public health or related field, with a minimum of two years of experience in program planning or a closely aligned area.
- Exceptional organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks in dynamic environments.
- Demonstrated success in designing outcome-driven programs aligned with clear objectives and measurable performance indicators.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to build and maintain collaborative networks.
- Experience in disability justice and/or health equity strongly preferred.
- Experience in working with individuals with intellectual disabilities preferred.
- Willingness and ability to travel throughout the Connecticut area as needed.
Healthy Athletes offers free health screening and education to Special Olympics athletes in multiple disciplines including podiatry, dental, vision, audiology, health promotion, sport physicals, mental and emotional wellbeing and physical therapy.
Young Athletes offers resources to support children aged 2 to 7 in developing basic sports skills and promoting inclusive play.
Family Health Forums provide a space for parents, caregivers, and siblings of people with intellectual disabilities to engage with health professions, community leaders and social service providers. The Forums introduce new families to Special Olympics and services provided through health and community-based programs.
