Overview

Quinnipiac University is seeking a skilled and motivated Maintenance Supervisor – Mechanical Services to lead the operation and upkeep of our Mount Carmel campus and ancillary properties, encompassing approximately 1.4 million square feet.

In this vital role, you’ll assist in managing and maintaining the university’s mechanical and electrical systems—including HVAC, heating, ventilation, chilled and domestic water, life safety, and building management systems. You’ll play a key part in ensuring our facilities are safe, efficient, and operating at the highest standards.

This position involves overseeing the day‑to‑day work of licensed electricians, HVAC technicians, and other team members, as well as coordinating with external contractors. You’ll work closely with the Senior Superintendent of Mechanical Services and step into a leadership role in their absence—planning, leading, and directing operations to maintain service continuity and excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with the general maintenance and repairs to mechanical equipment, building control systems, life safety systems and utility distribution systems on the Mount Carmel campus and ancillary properties, including the timely response and resolution to work requests of students, faculty, and staff.
  • Assist with the procurement and inventory of all mechanical systems materials and equipment.
  • Provide a strong sense of community with excellent customer service and relationships (particularly Admissions and Athletics) while maintaining the mechanical systems to promote an atmosphere which further fosters student achievement; ensuring that the community's needs and expectations for such services are met.
  • Assist with the assessment, development, communication, documentation, and implementation of daily and long‑term mechanical work plans, preventative maintenance, mechanical equipment management, as well as minor renovations and capital improvements.
  • Assist with the training of employees in methods and use of materials and equipment.
  • Work toward the reduction of harmful chemicals (i.e., refrigerant) while working in the direction of a more environmentally friendly campus.
  • This position is considered essential personnel and will have off‑shift responsibilities based generally upon weather events and outages. The regular shift will be Monday‑Friday 7:30 am to 4:00 pm.
Education Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
Qualifications
  • Good interpersonal and oral/written communications skills.
  • Proven managerial, fiscal, and organizational ability required; managerial experience in a union environment is preferred.
  • Competency with Windows‑based platform; a working knowledge of work request systems and project management systems.
  • Vocational or technical experience.
  • Valid driver’s license and a S‑1, S‑2, D‑1, D‑2, E‑1, E‑2, P‑1, or P‑2 license.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with individuals from varied backgrounds.
