The RN practices professional nursing as a registered nurse within the legal and ethical framework established by the Connecticut Nurse Practice Act, American Nurses Association Scope and Standards for Nursing Practice, ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses and the YNHHS Professional Practice Model.

• Standards of Practice:
  Utilize the nursing process components of assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation and evaluation.
• Standards of Professional Performance:
  Engage in professional role activities including ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice and research.
• Assist and/or perform chaperone duties for patient medical procedures as needed.

• Education:
  
  Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
• Experience:
  
  Registered Nurse foundational job description for all RNs.
• License:
  Licensed and currently registered nurse in the State of employment.
• Physical Demand:
  Requires prolonged standing; walking; exposure to infectious diseases and end-of-life care. Must be able to assist in lifting patients ranging from 5 to 300 pounds.
