My client, a mission-drive non-profit organization is seeking a detail-oriented General Accountant to support day-to-day financial operations. This role ensures the accuracy, integrity, and timely processing of financial data. This position is ideal for someone eager to broaden their expertise, take ownership of key financial processes, and contribute to strong internal controls and compliance practices.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage daily accounting activities, including processing bank deposits, recording receivables, and preparing deposits for the bank when needed.
  • Verify vendor invoices for accuracy, coding, and compliance; address discrepancies promptly.
  • Maintain precise tracking of tax-related costs, remittances, and recoveries.
  • Enter and reconcile donation and revenue transactions in the accounting system.
  • Prepare recurring monthly journal entries, accruals, and other adjustments as required.
  • Maintain accurate account balances through timely reconciliation of general ledger accounts, bank accounts, and corporate credit cards.
  • Assist with cheque and EFT payment runs and generate aging reports for accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Support regulatory financial reporting by compiling necessary monthly, quarterly, and annual data.
  • Contribute to year-end audit preparation, including organizing working papers.
  • Support the maintenance and reconciliation of capital asset records.
  • Process accounts receivable activities such as applying payments, preparing client invoices, and resolving discrepancies with vendor or client statements.
  • Ensure all financial activities adhere to established approval workflows, organizational policies, and legislative requirements.
  • Perform additional finance-related duties as assigned by management.
Required Qualifications
  • Diploma in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience.
  • Proficiency with Net Suite is a MUST
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, financial formulas).
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in data entry.
