Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (In-office, 5 days per week)
Compensation: $45,000 – $55,000 annually, commensurate with experience

Position OverviewMarkland is currently seeking a Junior Accounting Administrator to support their accounting operations from the downtown Hamilton office. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys structured work, takes pride in accuracy, and is motivated by becoming a trusted and dependable member of a small accounting team.
The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the financial administration of the property portfolios. This position requires attention to detail, follow-through, and comfort working with recurring processes and deadlines.
You will interact regularly with tenants, property managers, ownership groups, and internal leadership regarding financial matters.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain accurate accounting records for an assigned portfolio of properties
- Handle full-cycle accounts receivable, from tenant charges through to deposit processing
- Process full-cycle accounts payable, including invoice review and payment preparation
- Complete bank reconciliations and post journal entries
- Assist with month-end close activities, including balance sheet and account reconciliations
- Support preparation of financial statements and related schedules
- Compile audit working papers for year-end reporting
- Assist with budget data entry and updates
- Prepare monthly and quarterly HST reconciliations and filings
- Respond to financial inquiries from property management staff, tenants, and vendors
- Perform other accounting and administrative duties as required
- Degree or diploma in Accounting or a related field
- Minimum of 1 year of hands‑on accounting experience; property management accounting experience is considered an asset
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word
- Experience with property management software (Yardi Voyager, Yardi Elevate) is an asset
- Enjoys learning through hands‑on experience and repetition
- Strong attention to detail with a methodical approach to work
- Well‑organized and able to manage multiple ongoing responsibilities
- Dependable, consistent, and comfortable working within established processes
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Professional and courteous when interacting with tenants and vendors
