Intermediate Accounting Analyst

The City of Hamilton seeks an Intermediate Accounting Analyst to join its Financial Services Division. This role involves preparing annual financial statements, coordinating audits, and ensuring compliance with municipal accounting practices. You will analyze variances and assist in optimizing accounting processes with oversight from the Manager of Accounting Services.

Key Responsibilities:

• Compile annual financial statements for audits and management review

• Coordinate year-end audits and reconcile balance sheet accounts

• Analyze significant variances in financial reports and schedules

• Prepare monthly HST/GST claims for submission to CRA

• Develop spreadsheet applications for enhanced financial reporting

Requirements:

• Completion of a three-year Business Administration program

• Previous accounting experience in a computerized environment

• Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel

• Strong oral and written communication skills

• Ability to work independently and analyze transactions
